A person who would use their reputation to stoop so low as to present his opinion as "immutable truth" will receive no respect from me.

If you have a problem with some of the things Lucas says, why don't you write him? Lay out your objections carefully and respectfully. That's what I do when I question the things he says.David Andolfattohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12138572028306561024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8702840202604739302.post-40459187969797663762011-09-27T18:50:14.328-07:002011-09-27T18:50:14.328-07:00David:

But I run such a small time blog, I can hardly imagine that they might even care.

I do not think that Lucas would mind you finding many of his claims to be dubious in nature. My own experience suggests that he is the type of person who would listen to what you had to say, debate you with a smile on his face, and then join you for a beer afterward. He is not the type of person who would say "This is my opinion. End of story. Period."David Andolfattohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12138572028306561024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8702840202604739302.post-2509090036642736662011-09-27T18:11:45.053-07:002011-09-27T18:11:45.053-07:00I find Steve Williamsons' response to Krugman ...I find Steve Williamsons' response to Krugman dishonest. It's also fun he seems to think you can define science by just looking in a dictionary. Economics is as much science as post-modern gender studies are. It's full of politics and other ideological shit.

http://newmonetarism.blogspot.com/2011/09/ugghh.htmlCLnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8702840202604739302.post-19563391085687944982011-09-27T17:59:54.175-07:002011-09-27T17:59:54.175-07:00You might consider reducing the size of the quote ...You might consider reducing the size of the quote before WSJ complains about you republishing their content.

I found many dubious claims in the interview. For instance:

(1) Married women are less likely to work in Japan and Europe. Is that even true?
(2) "The welfare state is expansive". If I recall correctly the French have a higher level of production per hour than U.S. Also, many Scandinavian countries have survive the economic crisis much better despite being heavily taxed.
(3) About businesses concerned with "ObamaCare". I've read an analysis that said Europe actually had notably more small businesses because they don't have to buy their employees private health care insurance.
(4) This talk about fiscal stimulus contributing to the debt - it's less than 10%. Also, bonds are record low right now - but we know that already don't we?
(5) Obama to the left? Oh, please. Clinton's not left but Obama is? Duh.
(6) I'm sure I've read Lucas being sceptical to a fiscal stimulus. Now he's apparently not. How come?CLnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8702840202604739302.post-82081716857158329902011-09-26T15:45:14.657-07:002011-09-26T15:45:14.657-07:00Hi John.

I'm a little more surprised at the reason he gave for the way he voted!David Andolfattohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12138572028306561024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8702840202604739302.post-82164742683572854322011-09-26T09:46:29.184-07:002011-09-26T09:46:29.184-07:00What are your thoughts on the interview?
